Hi, I’m Joe London and I’ve been working in audio and music for the past 15 years. I started with producing music for myself under the artist name PRTCL, but I really started my production career as a volunteer for a mental health charity who provided studio time for their clients. My work was to provide studio time, recording, mixing and engineering services with the aim of the clients working on their own music and growing from it. At the same time I was studying an engineering course in London at a small academy, and the tutor on the course asked me if I would like to help out setting up another studio that the academy was building at the same time, with the possibility of taking over his job as the lead engineer in the coming months. This was my lucky break into engineering and what kick started everything for me.

Studio 146 was the studio I worked at in London. The space was a hub for local artists who could get paid for or reduced price sessions, so we helped a lot of artists in East London get into the studio to record themselves. We built up connections with local gig venues and some of the artists even got to perform their work at the venues. Some of the recorded work is available to listen to on the Sound Engineering & Recording page of my site. I got to work with some interesting engineers including the engineer “Mike Gregovich”, the Engineer for Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, and the Engineer who recorded the well known Saxophone solo from “Baker Street”. I even arranged one-to-one tuition with some of the artists who were interested to learn how to produce and engineer themselves.

After leaving London I came to Berlin, where I currently am. I wasted no time getting straight into my work here, and I started editing audio for Cutting Factory and shortly after I started recording work for them in some of Berlin’s great studios including Trixx Studio and Blackbird Studio. I have worked on many videos for Cutting Factory as a recording engineer (either in the studio or on set) and a sound designer. I have also worked on promotional/educational videos for denise audio where I have recorded my voice for voiceover, as well as designed sounds for them and educational video content round their plugin releases.
